Who Am I?
I’m Christi—a flawed traveler navigating this life’s potholes with humor while keeping a serious eye out for eternal-life appointments along the way.
Church was my life – I was a good girl who tried to do everything right. I married a minister, had two kids, and volunteered every time a need came up. I led members of my church in Bible study, prayer, service, and discovery of God’s work in their lives.
I carefully constructed an image of a witty and wise woman living out her life serving God.
But the image was not real. And it soon became an idol.
The dark truth? I was the unloved wife of a man who struggled with being married.
I hated the lies that kept us chained to the image we’d created of a happy, God-centered marriage. But I was terrified we’d lose everything if the truth came out. And we did.
The image was demolished when my husband’s name was released in the hack of a website for cheating spouses. My fear of loss was realized. My husband committed suicide, leaving me emotionally naked and alone in the public arena of an international scandal.
There was no place to hide.
Still, God is God. God is good. So very, very good.
Though I lost the life I was trying to save, God restored and repurposed my soul.
So how did I end up living in Amazing Grace the RV?
I stayed where I was for five years–surrounded by friends and coworkers who helped me heal and find my footing as a widow. Then I read the letter Paul wrote to the church in Rome, and God grabbed my attention with his words.
“For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to strengthen you— that is, that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine.”
God was stirring the same longing in me, and over the next year a plan began to form.
- To go to the church.
- To come alongside and strengthen her.
- To be mutually encouraged.
The church and me. Both of us, with all our quirks and flaws.
- The church is the center of God’s plan to draw people to Himself through the gospel. Her purpose is crucial.
- I am a widow and an empty nester. My situation leaves me free to please the Lord alone and be concerned only with His concerns (1 Cor. 7). My fruitfulness is far from over.
With fear, trembling, and eager anticipation, I set aside my worldly concerns, holding tight to the promise God has in store. My house sold to an amazing couple, my possessions found new homes with friends and family, and a 2021 Coachman Beyond became my new tiny-home on wheels.
God worked it all out as only He is able to do.
Now I Come Alongside you and others—freely and without encumbrance.
